The dictatorship of the proletariat is a concept in Marxist theory that describes a transitional state between capitalism and communism. It refers to the rule of the working class over the bourgeoisie, where the proletariat holds political power and uses it to suppress the capitalist class. The goal of this dictatorship is to eventually wither away as class distinctions dissolve, leading to a classless society. **

The dictatorship of the proletariat was a concept developed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels to describe the transitional period between the overthrow of the capitalist system and the establishment of a classless society. According to Marx and Engels, the proletariat, or the working class, would need to establish a temporary dictatorship in order to suppress the bourgeoisie and reorganize society along socialist lines. This dictatorship was not meant to be a repressive regime, but rather a necessary phase of revolutionary transformation, during which the working class would hold political power and work towards the eventual withering away of the state and the establishment of a communist society. **

The movement also sparked conversations about the working class and their struggles, which could potentially lead to long-term changes in policies and attitudes towards the proletariat.
